Second go round

Today helper, the pups and I drove out on another adventure. First we went to a natural preserve: the Mima Mounds. The air was damp and chilly but I quickly forgot about being cold. The dogs weren't supposed to be there but no one was around so after helper and I walked a bit of the concrete path, we grabbed the dogs and walked with them under some mossy trees to a picnic bench. The Mima Mounds are little hills on a prairie. There is the concrete path that winds among the hills. Little benches sit near by. Very peaceful. We drove back to the park that we visited last week. This time all of us walked a soft path among tall trees and ferns. The flat path started to work into hills. We worked up a couple before I said we needed to go back. I could tell that it was a bit slippery and i am not as stable as I wish. Rufus hung back, waiting for me to go down best I could, keeping out of the way. Helper had a good grab on Moxe. Delightful time out. Food diets do nothing for me. But walking among tall firs, that's motivation for me to get out and stretch my physical limits. I am so grateful I have had another adventure.

The last line of your post is the important line. Yvonne and I have said the very same thing many times. And I know Yvonne will say the same again in the Spring when we set off again How is Rufus coming along? He is a grand dog you know.

@Ineeddentures Thank you for the astute observation and question. Rufus is a serious dude when he is on leash. He is doing well. I will have to take another photo of him for you.

@Ineeddentures Rufus is a horrid barker dude when he is off leash. Drives us batty. But when he is out on leash, he's a good guy.

@DianneN I have plans. Whenever the temps warm I will bring paper and pen with me and just sit on a bench and enjoy the day.

That makes me so happy for you, Lenore. It sounds like magical dalliances with snippets of nature I truly do envy. There is a place about 40 minutes away I went when I was young, called Martin Nature Park. You would absolutely love it. Unfortunately, a couple of women have been attacked there over the years, and it is no longer safe to go alone, or just with another woman. Someday, I hope my sister and her husband take their kids to visit. I’d like to go with them.

@AmbiePam That's nasty and I'm sorry. I firmly believe children should go to wooded parks. It's a magical place that fires the imagination.

And I'm jealous that you have that adventure. It's always nice to have one and to appreciate the beauty of nature.
