The cha cha is a fun kind of flirty dance that originated from the Cuban Mambo. It became really popular in the U.S. in the 1950s. The dance has a modified Cuban Motion hip action and is an energetic dance sure to get a smile on your face. The cha cha evolved from a slow version of the mambo known as Triple Mambo. This dance inspired dancers to use hip syncopation with an evolving triple step. An English dance teacher visited Cuba and saw dancers doing this kind of triple step. When he returned home he started teaching it like a separate dance and it evolved into the Ballroom Cha Cha. The U.S. got introduced to the cha cha in 1854. The cha cha music was played by big band instruments. It is a lively dance with many different kinds of movements. My very first cat in Latvia was Chunchiks in Latvian and in English she was called Cha Cha you can see her in the photo. Shall we cha cha?

Wow, so the Cha Cha has serious Cuban roots. No wonder it’s fun, flirty, and impossible not to smile while dancing it!

Love your picture. And I love doing the cha-cha. I haven't done that for awhile but I do know how to cha-cha. My parents taught me. It is interesting learning how it originated and all.

I would love to Chacha with you. Learned the basics from my elementary PE class, then had to learn again from the Dance Instructor my mother hired. And then when I was in the university, learned it again from another PE class. Not my favorite dance though.

Adorable photo! She was so cute. I love the cha cha, but hubs honestly can’t do it. He is a real good dancer otherwise.
