Estimate reading

Gas bill just came for this house. It was $299. Last bill was $229. I looked at the meter reading and it says estimate.
I usually never get estimate readings for this house. I guess the estimate is due to the snow storm we had here. Perhaps they were unable to drive by and get a reading. Though roads get cleared so they shouldn’t have had an issue getting through.
I bet if the reading had been actual the bill total would have been less. Seems that estimates are usually not in the customer’s favor.
I keep my thermostat at 67 F. I like it nice and cool in the house. During the summer I usually keep it at 74 F.

My mom’s house is still getting estimate readings. This is beyond ridiculous. I have to try calling them again.

Does budget billing actually save you money? Or is it just easier to pay every month?

@lovebuglena It just evens out the amount you pay each month so there aren't any real highs and lows.

That's where they usually calculate their profits when they do estimates they can't do a lower digit it's always a whole digit increasingly

An estimate reading once in a while is ok but not when it’s ongoing like in my mom’s house.

@lovebuglena yea I get you it gets off guard I experienced that sometimes ago but I had to stand firm with the landlord and do manual calculations that saved me a lot of money
