So after a few weeks of not being told about the change in arrangements I made sure last night that I knew exactly where and at what time the Grandkids had to be at dance and football.
Daughter is moving house and had got a few jobs for The Mister to do and he did listen to me and said he would do them today when he took the Grandkids back home. ( instead of making several journeys to and fro like he usually does ).
Anyway, we had collected Grandson and just dropped off Granddaughter….we had a wait of one and a half hours to fill whilst she was at dance. We usually get something for Grandson to eat and visit a local shop to fill the time.
Not today ….
3 minutes after we dropped Granddaughter off , her Mom rings ….asks The Mister to go to her house and empty two wardrobes and take them down, smash the dressing table and put it ready for the binmen to collect and dismantle the trampoline !
Oh great I thought.
Plus he still had a door to fix from last time.
She really is taking the mickey.
We got Grandson food went to theirs and some jobs were done but had to be left as it was time to collect Granddaughter.
IF
We had known in advance she was going to ask for these extra jobs we could have taken all the kids things with us. ….but no !
So we had to come all the way back to our house to collect bags etc and then The Mister and Granddaughter went back over in the van …..as we also have to store the trampoline !
I am not a happy bunny !
Rant over …..

So sorry you had to make unnecessary trips. I agree about not making arrangements with a 9 year old and having the boyfriend do the chores.

Now The Mister is back at work Monday to Friday we only have the weekends to do anything ….obviously jobs have to be done etc ….but a plan of jobs and time etc would help. …..he still has the door to fix….

I think so …..I didn’t add that at 1.30 Moms boyfriend rang Granddaughter saying I’ve finished work shall I pick you up. Granddaughter said no as Grandad had to take her as he had jobs to do …..made me think …..why isn’t the boyfriend doing these jobs ? They have been together well over a year now ….
Also I’m not happy about the boyfriend ringing Granddaughter and making arrangements. She is only 9 years old and I think he should be talking to either The Mister or myself ! Make arrangements with an adult not a child !

@Traceyjayne I find that inappropriate too. You are the adult in charge, and he should speak with you about it.

Why can't daughter do some of those jobs? Why is dad expected to drop everything and do them for her? I would have to say something about her taking my time when I have already made plans.
I'm sorry that's happening. I hope you and your family are having a lovely day today.

@traceyjayne I feel your pain. Parents aren’t supposed to have lives of their own to live - all they have to do is stand awaiting till needed!!

Some people really do take others for granted sometimes. I hope your daughter was suitably grateful.
