And rudeness. From my college, recently. I am just changing the name and i have to pay a lot of money. Ok,i accepted it but I think i have a right to choose which papers i want to change and in 3emails, they are manipulating with informations, mentioning i have to pay for my masters degree in english and i didn't even got one in english, then some additional stuff and so on. I answered do i need to write to my university headmaster cause i am sick of this kind of communication. I feel anger, sadness and disappointment of enrolling into this college.
And also noone helping out when you change the name. You embrace happy moment about having a new name and then this.
Do you know anyone changing their name and kind of feeling more unhappy than before the change?

I guess some parents really think about naming their children or some people are nicer and have less prejudice.thank you.i think i won't change my college papers, considering how they behaved towards me.i've heard in thailand people often change their names,i think they have long names and i hope they have less hassle than me...

@valherma00 Some Indian people have very long names too, especially the surname.

While I'm not and never been a student. I decided to keep my name after I got married. George and I both agree it'd be to much of a pain in the butt to go through all the documents to change my name.

@valherma00 I can't speak for that college. But, by the time you get to college... there's a lot you're expected to know. So when you make mistakes or ask questions, then then they tend to be not-so-nice about it. I am not saying all colleges are like this, but it's a running theame.
That being said, around the world, young people are lead to believe that you need a degree to get a good job. But, that piece of paper doesn't equal experience. And often it's not enough. I've known people who've gone to school only not to find work. And others who make more money learning a trade then what a degree would offer.

@kaylachan it's not honorable of our society or our country to promote it in a fake way and then you find yourself lost and stuck. i wish i found job first, then went to college. it is a piece of paper that is both power and also has no meaning, you are right. also, i felt they wanted to trick me to pay more so i gave up from changing my name of my diploma; it will stay the same.

that's a good decision. in my case, it's my first name, my surname is the same and i never got married. i also don't think i will. i changed my name cause it was a half regional name and outside my region, people changed the accent of name or thought my name wasn't native enough and i am native so, after telling for years people around me how unhappy i am of enduring that and they didn't take me seriously, i changed my name and i felt good but, it seems, i have to have a good amount of money and patience for changing documents and, i feel, going through the same feeling again but in hard way is not what i expected.
id and basic documents were good, no complications with that but i don't get it how digitally they couldn't change my degree so it is in the system. tax, insurance, everything changed but my college degrees stayed the same and that cocky communication from them. i mean, college staff wasn't nice at all when i was studying there. they ripped one time paper in front of me cause i made a mistake, hardly answered questions when i asked them and i had to wait for my diploma 1,5 years after i graduated cause, there was some stand by with making diplomas and this college was brand new and didn't have a strong tradition, like other colleges and i was snubbed a few times due to that so, asking my college one small thing after 15 years, i feel awful, like i am begging again. also, i struggled to find job with this degree. it wasn't recognised at first and i know economy here is in a lousy shape but job offers, i always got the bad ones and i feel it's to enrolling into this college. i remember they talked we could work in a lot of places and when i graduated, i realised it was all lies. i felt tricked and this brought bad memories to me.

I've never known anyone personally who wanted to change their name. Not something I'd want to do.
