BBC Antiques Roadtrip Nothing Real About It

February 4, 2026 11:31am CST
The BBC really piss me off. Every show is fake and this Antiques Road Trip show is one of the worst. Tonight's episode ended with a simpleton paying £35 for an Izal toilet paper roll. You just new that was coming the minute the Charlie Drake look-a-like sound -a - like Yorkshire pudding rushed to the counter in the Antique store and paid £9 for it. Another thing that gets my goat is the way the two supposed competing antique dealers can get antique dealers in shops to cave in and reduce the price of items to ridiculous levels. All the dealers cave in One dealer tonight caved in from £130 to £65 - doesn't happen in the real world. Poor dealer looked distraught as he saw the treasure being stolen from him because the BBC say it's good for the viewers. Well matey dealer I'm coming to your shop so you better cave in for me too. Also, the roads the dealers drove on in the classic car is all fake as well. What happens is a country road is closed off for the show and all the driving scenes for every episode are filmed nazi ally on the same place You are not telling me some joker so called antique dealer is getting let loose with an Aston Martin classic worth £100k Nothing in this show is real It's patronising. And the BBC charge is £170 per year to watch all the cheap to make contrived shite they broadcast Is TV fake where you are?

Alot of the reality shows are fake. I am not sure if Antiques Road Show we have here is fake or not, but it seems real. One thing I do know though..is that the "experts" spend a lot of time looking up facts behind the scene. Nobody is that knowledgeable off the cuff.

@Ineeddentures - The TV is a lot of garbage, even all those shows where people make money are fake and manipulated.

@LadyDuck The Quiz shows are all a.fix. Don't ever go on a UK quiz show if you are white, straight and able bodied. The odds are stacked against you.

Incidentally I sold a roll of Izal toilet paper on Ebay a few years ago, I wonder if it was the same one?

@Fleura I once mistook it for greaseproof paper. My dad has asked for some When I presented him with it he said Greaseproof paper, not shite proof paper!!

I haven't actually watched TV myself since I left home at 18. I never owned one and I was pressured into getting one for the family a few years ago which p**sses me off as I have to pay half the licence fee. The others enjoy watching 'Bake-off' now and then and my partner enjoys 'Father Brown' while he does the dishes. Why do you watch it if it's so bad? Life's too short!

I am interested in Antiques. And Sport Current affairs The Natural World And in the afternoon before tea time I sit and keep Yvonne company watching Pointless and the show before it After the news , no TV for me unless it's football And I use the TV to stream football It just pisses me off that nothing is real anymore. Even Question time is not real anymore
