The land of confusion.

The last few days, I have done some reading and some thinking about how we arrived as a country to be the mess that it is right now. It didn't happen overnight.
For the record, I am not an expert on this. I try to stay informed. I have a family, and I want them to be safe, and have a good future. Right now, it's hard to see that, so of course, I am concerned for all of us.
There have been times in our history that consisted of political unrest, wrongdoings, innocent people dying for no reason, and bad leaders. It's this way all over the world now, not just in the US. I have heard it described in many different ways, and there are literally thousands of ways to try to explain it all.
This led me to think of a song from exactly 40 years ago this year, by Genesis, and written by Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Phil Collins. An influential politically based song, it described the times being controversial then, and in ways it describes it even now. Of course this led me to researching the song itself and really thinking about the lyrics.
A rare political song for Genesis, "Land of Confusion" questions the wisdom of world leaders at a time when the US and Russia were enemies and there was a threat of nuclear war. Phil Collins called it, "A political song about the mess we have landed in." via google.
I can't do a song review as good as our buddy @FourWalls, so I won't even try. This is just all some food for thoughts.
A quote from one of the song writers, Mike Rutherford, he made in 2017~~
''For Mike Rutherford, the video seemed particularly relevant when Donald Trump took office as president of the United States. "Ever since Trump got in, I hark back to that video," he told Songfacts in 2017. "The final scene is Reagan looking towards the wall behind his bed and there's two buttons, one saying 'nurse' and one saying 'nuke.' It's just kind of a strange time, isn't it? Some of it seemed very relevant."
It's honestly worth listening to. Not all a perfect comparison, but it does hit home.
And yes, the puppets singing is a bit disturbing. If you've never seen the video, you need to pay attention to the video at the end...

Other than ICE people seem resigned to the horror that is in the White House. I don't know why there aren't groups marching on the Capital and White House everyday, demanding Trump be removed.

Oh, Snowy. I don’t know why, either. Everything is in such a horrible mess.

I always loved that video despite the dark nature of the lyrics. Those puppets are so exaggerated and cute…especially Phil’s.

I read an interessting article a few days ago - this is a bit off-topic - about all of Epstein's contacts that stayed in touch even after he was accused of paedophilia. A few dropped him like a hot potato but others more or less carried on as if it were the norm. That is especially worrying I think.

I think the thing that to me is the most frustrating is the fact that people seemed just resigned to what is happening in the White House, other than ICE people just seem content to let the horror unfold. It seems like groups should be marching on the White House and Capital everyday demanding the removal of Trump.
