A Little Friday Night Excitement

We didn't have too much planned for Friday. I have been trying to get my Friday flea market run back on schedule and that was about all I planned to do.
However, the hubby has been looking at sub-soilers for the tractor to break up the soil that has some clay in it and take care of any protruding roots into the garden. We stopped to look at one on the way home last week when we were picking up auction wins in the Jackson, MS area. He would have bought it, but we didn't have room for it. There is not one in stock in our local area. When we got home he started looking online and couldn't find one close by. He finally found one in Franklinton, LA.
So we compromised and combined errands since I was going to the flea market and that is on the way to Franklinton. I tided up my booth and added a bit of stock and we went to town to check out the new pizza place. It was paced, but everyone has been saying how good it is, so we went to find out for ourselves. (More on this place in another post...coming soon!)
After dinner we headed south to Franklinton, LA to their Tractor Supply. When we got into Franklinton, we did not make it far as the road was blocked and shut down both ways to traffic. We tried a detour, but could still not get through. An officer came to the truck and told us to just hang tight, the Mardi Gras parade was rolling and it was not a long parade.
I told my hubby that I was getting out to go watch the parade. It was a short parade and included the high school band, cheerleaders, dance team, a couple of old and classic cars, fire trucks, Country Fair Queen, and a few businesses. It was a fun treat and we caught some beads, a plastic cup, rubber ducks, candy, a flashing hand and other glow in the dark wands, several bracelets.
We made it to Tractor Supply ten minutes before they closed. So all went well, we both got our errands ran, we had some unexpected fun, and we got to try out the new pizza place!
How has your weekend been?

That sounds like a fun and productive day. I spent most of the weekend in my recliner, under my blanket. I managed to fall asleep three times.

@LindaOHio I don't really feel bad once I get up and moving around. But early morning is cough up a lung time and bedtime is cough up both lungs, so time for it to take a hike! I would love 6-7 hours of straight and solid sleep!

Yes, having grown up going to parades in Bogalusa, Covington, New Oreleans and then in Baton Rouge after we moved there, I have been missing parades! But, they are not the same anymore either. Not too family friendly. We had a shooting at the Clinton, LA parade this year that injured 6 people!

@wolfgirl569 It was a surprise being in a small town and not a big city like New Orleans or Baton Rouge where the shootings usually happen. Sad. A small child was injured in that shooting in Clinton. Senseless!!

@kareng Too bad about the shooting. Things like that ruin it for everyone. We used to have more here than they do now

That's cool. I love parades. My weekend was pretty boring. All we did was go to the grocery store.

That sounds like a really good time! I like how you got out to watch the parade instead of bemoaning the delay. You’re my kind of people.
My weekend was mostly spent trying to feel better, but I do indeed feel better now. I’m currently just watching a very boring Super Bowl (so far). The commercials have been decent.

The commercials would be the highlight!!
There was no crowd, this was their first year to roll in that small town and we were also more than halfway down the parade route. Most like to get at the beginning and we used to run down a few blocks to get back to the parade. Ha. We had so much fun at these parades back when they were safe!

Weekend hasn't been really bad so far--though I understand that it's supposed to rain.
