I Had Some Good News About Our Internet Recently

I am addicted to the internet. Not having it for even a 24–48-hour period has shown me that fact. A few months ago we changed our service. We had been with Sparklight for about 30 years. Long before it was even Sparklight. Back when it was United Cable, then Cable One and then Sparklight. It was too expensive when we had cable too. We were paying about three times what we are now. The digital cable was grand and I do miss it BUT, now I have ROKU. I enjoy it. I'm a television junky too. The company we get our internet from now has its quirks and I am not happy about it. We had several outages when we first had it put in a few months ago. One time the worker told us that the QF equipment was becoming antiquated and when it went so might our service. Unless they upgraded which no one was sure they would do as yet. So, that bit of news put my head in tailspin. Please! No! So, anyway I found out recently that AT&T has 'acquired' QF. We haven't had an outage is months (knock on wood) and hopefully our service will remain consistent. We signed paperwork saying we would pay X amount each and every month. I wonder what AT&T will want to do with that.

That's an interesting thought and I don't have an answer for you. Big companies always want big bucks. When we were through Verizon before they got so big, the price was reasonable for our phone service. After they started buying up all the smaller companies in our area, they tried to raise our rates but we had a contract specifying what we had to pay. When I refused to pay, they took me to court. The judge ruled in my favor but Verizon kept doing stuff so we didn't have phone service. I switched to a different company and used them for 20-something years. Now, Pretty switched us to T-Mobile who doesn't have good service in our area so I've been arguing with her about it. She was trying to save money. I want reliable service. The problem is the money is hers now so I don't get a choice in how we spend it. (When I was the one making the money, I let her decide things for herself and I paid for it... Now, it doesn't work that way.)

I had a bad experience with Verizon and will never use them. Now I find they are combined with Tracfone. Ugh! If QF tries to up the price we will have to go elsewhere. Not sure where though. It's getting skim pickings around here and this is a capitol city. I don't know how you can deal with her. Not sure I could.

I'm glad your service has been better. If I won the billion dollar lottery, I would have cable and internet service available for a decent price. I'd like to put all the big boys out of business.
