This vintage fantasy movie has become one of my all-time favorites. The lovely Gene Tierney plays Lucy, a widow who has decided to move out of her in-law's home and she moves to Gull Cottage outside a little town by the sea. This is where she meets the abrasive and out-spoken ghost Captain Daniel Gregg played by Rex Harrison. His character died of gas fumes from the heater in his room. When finances become an issue, he has her write his life story. It's a hit of course. When she goes to submit the book at a publishing house, she meets the cad in this story played by George Sanders. He is described by Captain Gregg as a parlor snake which I thought was great. It's a cute, sweet, funny, romantic, tale of pure loveliness. But what more do we want when we set down to enjoy an old movie but a fantastical story that will make us smile, nearly weep and laugh uproariously at times? You'll get it here. I've probably seen it 15 times and may see it another 15 before I lay my head to rest for the last time. It was written by R.A. Dick who was actually Josephine A. C. Leslie in 1945. Later it made into a television series (1968-1970) with Hope Lange and Edward Mulhare in the lead roles. Great actors and it was a fun series.

@celticeagle — I love the scene where she objects to the word Captain Gregg used then frustratedly typed it out.

I have never watched that movie. Nowadays I rarely see a movie though we have subscribed to Netflix.
