Today I'm leaving for another city to take part in my niece's ring ceremony. She is my elder brother's daughter. In ring ceremony the bride and the groom exchange their rings.
The wedding will take place in July.
Now there are six members in my family - my mother, my father, one of my younger sisters who is unmarried by choice, my niece, my wife and myself. After my niece's marriage we will remain only five.
Hopefully I'll be back on the 20 th of the month.
I hope everything will go well.

Yes, it's engagement. Rings are exchanged after some rituals are performed.

@Shivram59 We don't do ceremonies for that here. Usually engagement is private between the man and woman.

@DaddyEvil There was a time when engagements used to be private here also, but as time passed, it became an expensive affair.

Thank you.Yes, I reached here safe. Tomorrow is the function. Many of the boy's relatives have arrived. I'm going to meet them. The venue is at s hotel. There was a time when engagements used to be a private and simple function. Now it is very expensive, very expensive.
I hope everything will go well.

After some rituals the bride and groom exchange their rings. That's the reason why it is called ring ceremony.
The ceremony went well. Hundreds of ours and their relatives came from distant places to join the ceremony.
