Wheee! Snow in the Berkeley CA hills!

The local news is rife with reports of people making snowmen in the Berkeley Hills yesterday or the day before. I grew up in the Berkeley hills (in a previous century) and never experienced snow up there. I caught a glimpse of Mt. Diablo yesterday, and yes, there was snow there as well. I gather the snow level dropped to 1000 feet here in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. I'll attach a photo I took a couple of Februaries ago. The combination of green foothills and snowy peaks is a bit odd, but it's pretty. Does it snow where you live? We got only hail (it "stuck" for a few minutes) where I live.

Strangely, we rarely get snow here but since Big One was born we have had snow virtually every year usually around her birthday, which is in April. I think we get snow in April probably more than any other month, although it lasts only a day or two.

We're supposed to reach 70F here today and then drop to 24F during the night tonight. We have a chance of snow this weekend. I don't want it!

It did not snow at my elevation. But it was pretty to look at on Mt. Diablo. I have taken kids up there who had never seen snow before.

My daughter and I were just remarking about the snow on our mountains here. (I can see them out my window and she comes in to look sometimes.) About a week ago the mountains were bare purple majesties. Now they are white once again.

How far away are you from the avalanche that happened?
The avalanche that killed eight skiers this week in California was the deadliest in state history as another expected powerful storm delays recovery efforts.

Maybe 80 miles.

Were near the equator so, no, it does not snow where we live. Sometimes, in the mountainous region of the country, hail happens.

Cool! And so you don't have super long and short days either, right? And your sun sets are fast, not gradual? What Country do you live in?

It certainly does look pretty! We got snow during the recent snowstorm that hit so many of the states, but it’s usually a once a year thing, and it usually doesn’t stick.

I just drove home from Guitar Center. There is still snow atop Mt. Diablo. It made me smile.

Yes, it snowed here this morning and I am glad it stop or else I have to shower the snow in our pathway. That is a beautiful photo.

Shower? Would not a shower turn to ice?
