Freezing cold at the football match

We were asked to take Grandson to his football match this morning. Up early and off out when all we wanted to do was go back to sleep.
However we usually only take him to practise session on a Saturday, so it was nice to be able to watch an actual match.
Unfortunately it was freezing cold. We were well wrapped up but somehow the wind knew just where to blow !
His team didn’t win…..but the opposing team are in a division two above his team .
It took an hour and a cup of hot chocolate to thaw us out when we came home.
Do you like football ?

Oh aye
Football.
I must admit I do like football.
Have done most of my life.
See when I was like 12 years old, I played for the local Christian Mission football team.

His team are getting better but ….with all the love in the world ….they are not that great. I don’t see them looking for a team mate to pass the ball too. Too many of the players seem to shy away from the ball. They get on but they aren’t ‘friends’ and they don’t gel as a team.
But , what do I know ….i come from a long line of WBA supporters !

@Ineeddentures he is 13. He has been with this team about 4 years off and on. I think the fact that they don’t gel is a problem ….they have been playing together long enough now to know how the others play ….
There never seems to be anyone ‘reading’ the pitch ….they are never there to accept the ball from a teammate.

How old is your grandson?
You should take over as coach.
Make them gel.

My son loves watching football. When I was in high school, I like watching my friends' football game.

No, I'm not interested in sports of any kind. When I went to games, it was because a friend talked me into going with him or Pretty was involved in something. (She did several years on a girls' softball league. That was back when parents weren't supposed to cheer their kids on against other teams. I cheered for both teams and encouraged the girls when they weren't doing very well. The other parents just sat and stared at me. Nobody said anything to me because I was cheering for all the girls, not just Pretty and her team.)

I like our football but not in the cold. I'll enjoy it in my recliner, under my blanket, in front of the TV.

That sounds perfect …..it’s a bit like me today …freezing outside so I changed my plans and I’m staying in ….fire on …on the sofa with the throw over me , a hot chocolate waiting to be drunk ….
