Hey y'all! I hope you're doing amazing and you are looking for your blessings in every day-even days when its hard.
This came to my mind when I responded to another discussion. We got on the topic of Frosted Flakes...love some frosted flakes y'all, always have! I thought I would share some other things I used to love and some of my best memories growing up.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are as follows:
Climbing trees with siblings and friends in the neighborhood
Playing Manhunt until the street lights came on of course
Watching Saved by the Bell on Saturday mornings
Riding my Bike to my friends house
Making Sand Castles at the beach!
Getting Ice Cream from the Ice Cream truck
Looking inside the cereal box for their cool toy or the spoons that changed colors!
Also, loved watching the Rugrats, Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Lassie, The Jetsons, Baywatch & Macguyver.
Can you relate to any of these?

I used to love to ride my bike too.
Any and all of the time that I was over at my Gramma's house were fun times.
I just loved being with her.
She'd take me outside to pick apples, then inside to peel them-she taught me how to safely hold a paring knife and peel and slice the apples for a pie.
I even liked helping her hang out laundry and bring it back in again.
She was an amazingly sweet and loving person, and I was so blessed to have her in my life.

I can definitely relate to many of those childhood memories.
Riding bikes was our basic mode of transportation
Ice cream from the Ice Cream truck
we even knew the ice cream man by name as well as the milk man (yes we had milk delivered back in my childhood)
Knocking on the door to call for a friend to come out and play
Cereal was a "go to" breakfast but we certainly didn't have as many choices as we do now. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite these day
Saturday morning cartoons
Oh so many more....I could go on and on and on

@LovingMyBabies I think all of us have such similar memories because we didn't have internet back then. We played outside and as my mom used to say "use your imagination"

I can definitely relate to all of those! It's sad that we were probably the last generation who got to experience the things you mentioned on your list. Kids nowadays don't even go outside, let alone stay out until the streetlights came on.
Riding bikes with all my friends in the neighborhood is definitely a favorite memory of mine. We would ride our bikes all day long, exploring different neighborhoods and just riding around being free and alive.

@moffittjc Maybe that's true for most of this generation however, my kiddos love being outdoors! Yesterday we played on the trampoline, played baseball and flew kites. Such a good day and time!
However, what has changed is the amount of crime nowadays from when we were younger which is truly sad. I would never allow my kids to ride their bikes 3 blocks away to a friend's house and trust they'd get there safely.

@LovingMyBabies Like you, I encouraged my kids to be outside as much as possible. Yet, we see fewer and fewer of the younger generations enjoying the great outdoors. And true, as far as crime is concerned times are not what they used to be.

I didn't have a TV at home as a child and until my father lived. However I climbed trees and listened to the radio a lot and used to learn songs from there.

Ahh yes, Rugrats, what a classic cartoon that was!
For myself,
Riding my bike around, with friends
Playing video games, alone or with friends
Anything Pokemon, the show, the game, collecting the cards
Collecting sports cards
Going to the corner store to buy candy.
Definitely lots of others too, but those are the main ones that come to mind, and were so joyful

Baywatch?
I tried to watch that once, and almost got grounded. I think my parents thought it was worse than it was.
I loved climbing trees, hearing the ice cream truck coming down the street, swinging and having jumping contests on who could land further away. I also watched Saved by the Bell, and, of course, Full House and Family Matters. I remember doing donuts in the church parking lot in our car during winter with my dad. Great times!

My childhood was mostly a blast, except I grew up in the 60's early 70's time frame. I had a lot of awesome childhood memories, but I think the best one was riding on a tractor with my grandfather while he was haying. It was just so novel and different, also Grandpa was the bomb! and the weather was perfect.

My sister and I liked playing house with our dolls. We also loved playing with our Barbie dolls. We had fun on family trips to the beach and we liked watching Scooby Doo, The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island.

Definitely playing outside until the street lights came on.
Gathering blackberries from the huge bushes at the end of the street.
Riding my bike around the block.
Skating on the rough concrete until my feet vibrated.
Getting ice from the milk truck.
Getting Italian ice from the ice cream truck.
Going downstairs to stay with my grandparents until my mother came home.
Going swimming at my girlfriend's house. She was the only one with a pool.

Aww, this made me smile so much
There’s something so special about those simple childhood memories. Life felt slower, lighter, and full of genuine joy. Playing outside until the street lights came on and digging through cereal boxes for the coolest toy, those moments really meant everything back then.
Thank you for sharing such beautiful memories. It’s a sweet reminder to keep looking for the small blessings in everyday life, even when things feel hard. Sometimes the simplest moments become the most meaningful ones
