Both green capsicum which we call shimla mirch and red tomatoes are planted side by side. One of the reasons are that they are watery vegetables. So additional amount of water from pipes and irrigation devices are provided. The soil suits them both.

We call capsicum "bell peppers" or "sweet peppers" and grow them beside tomatoes, too. I plant both in pots of dirt on our front porch during the late spring and we harvest them in late summer and into early fall.
I like cutting up sweet peppers and cooking them with onions and eggs.

I must try and substitute Chilli with Capsicum and see what difference it makes to one of my curries
