Ya know, there really doesn't seem to be many advantages to plant based milk

Oat milk was on sale at the grocery store the other day so since I like that better than most plant based milks I have tried, I bought some. I used to hear all the time cows milk was acidic, but researchers don't seem terribly concerned about that now. It has more vitamins, is slightly lower in calories, has more calcium and is nutrient dense. It is also more cost effective. Plant based milk like oat milk is better for the planet. It is vegan friendly, and for those who have allergies. It also contains fiber where milk doesn't. It is actually considered an ultra processed food though, and you know how bad that is...so yeah, not something to buy frequently in my book. Where do you come down on the milk vs. plant milk debate?

I hadn’t bought milk in a year until yesterday when I bought some in my bid to add protein to my diet. I figured I could use the calcium too considering I’m about to turn forty-five. I used to buy coconut milk for cereal, but I couldn’t use it all by the ten days it is good after you open it. As I don’t eat cereal anymore, I quit buying it. I don’t bake, and when I needed milk for cooking I would buy one of those small, individual cartons of milk so as not to waste anything extra.

@snowy22315 You might have less trouble with your bones if you were drinking milk.

I love oat milk. I get the unsweetened. Milk has a lot of sugar in it.

Less calories though overall unless you drink whole.. You might need the calcium from milk unless you take a supplement though.

@snowy22315 There's more calcium in oat milk than in regular milk. And yes, I'm taking a calcium supplement.

I love oat milk. From the moment I was born I was lactose intolerant. But I love milk so much that I didn't care the effect on me until lacto-free milk became available in this country. I love oat milk but they're very expensive in this country and they never go on sale. A cheaper alternative would be soya milk, but I prefer the taste of oat and almond milk.

Oat milk is tasty. I like the extra creamy which is very much like cow's milk.

I never gave up dairy milk, it contains more protein calcium and vitamin B12. They tried to impose plant based milk because has a lower environmental impact. They are also trying to make us stop eating meat for the same reason.

Yes, I don't mind drinking it every once in awhile, but don't think it is a good idea to replace cow's milk.

@snowy22315 - We do not drink a lot of milk, but I use milk to prepare cakes, to make a cappuccino and to add a little to my coffee so I can skip sugar.

I've never tried plant-based milks and have no wish to really. Actually, I've had soy milk but couldn't stand it.

I didn't know it was considered an ultra processed food. That's a no-no on my kidney diet. I don't drink milk.

I think it's a good idea to cook with it, but I don't think I would want to drink it.
