No compost pickup since Monday last week

Due to the snowstorm that we had Sunday into Monday, there was no garbage, compost, or recycling pickup on Monday. We were told that garbage pickup will resume this Wednesday with priority going to garbage and compost and not recycling. I was thinking of trying to put out the garbage and compost outside today, hoping it will get picked up Thursday as our second garbage pickup is usually on Thursdays. My compost that I’ve been accumulating since Monday of last week already has lots of mold on it. I want it out of here. Putting out the garbage and compost outside is not a problem, however, it seems I have to shovel snow from the middle of the road because it’s blocking people from getting to the curb by my house. That’s something I do not want to do. It shouldn’t be my responsibility to remove the snow because it’s in the middle of the road. If I don’t do anything, I doubt the sanitation guys are gonna step over the snow to get to my garbage bins. Maybe I’ll just remove a little portion of it so they can get through and leave the rest as is.

If i remember correctly the compost is food waste? If it's getting mouldy just get it out of the house and put it anywhere you can. Can people not walk through snow to get to your house Lena?

Right now I took it out from the kitchen garbage can and into the compost bin downstairs. Will see if anyone took theirs out. If yes, I’ll take mine out.

Yes, compost is food waste and also plants and flowers.

How is Mamdani working out for you so far as mayor? He gets trashed in our news here in Florida, but I assume a lot of that is because we are a fiercely red state and don't agree with his liberal policies. Did you get a lot of snow? Like trapped in your house for days kind of snow?

@lovebuglena I read about people taking the money and not actually doing any work. Sounds exactly like what our society has become…do nothing and expect to get paid for it.

@moffittjc People were also complaining that to shovel snow they needed to bring two forms of ID yet to vote no ID required. But the IDs are to get paid for shoveling and not to actually shovel.

Staten Island got way more snow than Manhattan. I think it got hit the worst of all the boroughs. Mamdani was asking people to help shovel snow, paying $30/hr. I read that many went, got the shovel, got paid but didn’t actually shovel any snow. In my community, where the house is, snow removal was not great. I did not venture out of the house except to shovel a little bit.

That’s such a pain. It shouldn’t be your responsibility to shovel snow in the actual road!

That’s why I only shoveled just enough for the guys to be able to get to my garbage bins.

I hope this all gets sorted soon. I can't think of any circumstances where our rubbish trucks wouldn't come when they're supposed to.

@lovebuglena Oh, that makes more sense.

When there’s snow, sanitation trucks are used to plow the roads and that is why garbage, compost, and recycling pickup is delayed.

I hope they can pick everything up. You could make a shovel full path to the bins...just wide enough to walk.

They picked up the garbage but not the compost.
