Unpleasant necessity.

Bought a new phone today, reluctantly, but it was necessary. It was almost as excruciating as getting my hair cut. First whippersnapper I spoke to talked in jargon at 100 miles an hour and I could feel my eyes glaze over. I grinned and nodded. Then he passed me over to a girl who was to set up my new phone. She spoke slowly, distinctly and loudly, obviously having taken a course in how to deal with elderly customers. “Would you like me to set it up with large print?” she asked. She somehow stopped herself from referring to me as dear. I wanted to tell her that I am not elderly, comatose or demented, I’m only 67 and 14 months old. So I came away with a new phone. Job done.

Enjoy your new phone. Hubs and I were considering switching carriers. We never were offered help, because all the young whippersnappers were all busy playing with their own phones. Needless to say, we received much better help with our usual carrier.

Congratulations on the second person. Most young people don't know how to slow down and speak plainly. Or, they use made up words because they think it's funny when adults can't understand them.

Glad you got your new phone. The younger generation must think people who are in their senoir years have got to have something wrong with them or it might be a reaction seeing us like I get for myself when I am around the house and I have not looked in the mirror and then suddenly I do and it scares me to see that old witch and what the hell is she doing here and then it just comes down to the fact that age does not matter and perhaps that scary sight is what these people imagine

I hate getting a new phone ……I mean, I like getting the actual phone, but then it’s all the faffing about …..downloading apps, adding passwords, transferring things …..

We were at the office supply store the other day and told the young saleswoman that we wanted a "wireless" printer. She very helpfully told us old senile people that "they still come with cords, but it was wifi" She was referring to the charging cord like we didn't know it had to be plugged in. Oh the pain!

Hope your new phone is working well. I bought an old phone from a repair shop. What we call here " second hand". It's working fine for my limited needs.

I'm glad, in spite of the difficulty, that you have your new phone.
