Dentist coming up

Sometimes it seems time is flying. Other times it seems time is dragging. Today is the first of March, which is hard to believe. I’m not ready for the closeness of spring or much warmer temperatures. I prefer the cold or cooler temps.
I have a dentist appointment March 4th. My dentist is out of network with my dental insurance. I pay for my services before leaving the dental office and then I get a reimbursement check if I’m entitled to anything.
I’m not really sure why that is but the reimbursement check was always made out to my husband. Because of that I cannot deposit the check myself. I have to wait for my husband to do it and then give me the money.
I didn’t mind going through that when he was still here. But now that he doesn’t live with me under one roof, and doesn’t really keep in touch with me, I hate having to deal with it.
I already dealt with that last November and I’ll have to do it again now. When the reimbursement check comes, I’ll have to text him about it and then wait for him to reply and finally come to my house to take the check and give me the money.
Seeing him will be hard for me and I’m not even sure how long it’ll take for him to finally respond to my text and come over with the money. Last time I had to wait about a week for him to respond to my text.
I guess I will have to see what my reimbursement check will be. If the amount will be small, maybe I’ll just forget about the money. But if the reimbursement amount will be big enough, it’ll be stupid to just let it go to waste, so I will have no choice but to contact him to get my money and hope that he’ll respond.

It's always a pain to wait on somebody else to do things you need done. My first wife wouldn't come sign the reimbursement checks because she wasn't getting the money. I'd take Pretty to the doctor, pay the bill and then have to wait until we went to court for something before asking the judge to make her sign the checks so I could get my money back. She always laughed about it. I was VERY happy when the judge finally told her to either sign the checks when they came or pay fines on the amount I was supposed to receive. She HATED that but did start signing the checks!

It sucks that it took that for her to sign the checks, but at least she started doing it.

My only possible explanation for why the reimbursement checks are made out to him is because he is the head of the household. Otherwise, I don’t get it. Why can’t the check be made out to the patient?

Did Lenny control all the finances?
You need to speak to him as soon as you can and get some sort of financial agreement in place
Kayla is right by the way
You were " separated" from the moment he left and a court of law would recognise the date he abandoned you as the date of separation.
Go and see a lawyer for goodness sake.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by controlled all the finances…

@Ineeddentures if we’re talking about utilities, like gas, electric, water my mom paid those. Whatever bills he paid were his car insurance, his credit cards, and cable/Internet. And we just paid my mom monthly “rent”.

I think the two of you need to fix that so you're not relying on him for money. Especially since you're seperated.

We’re unofficially separated. And it wasn’t mutual. He just decided to leave.
I checked my dental insurance card and it says member and his name. I don’t understand why. This insurance expires end of March. Hopefully this is the last time this will happen.

@lovebuglena Well, if he's not living with you, but you're legally married, that's considered seperated. But, yeah, you might need to talk to the insurance company and get insurance in your name.

@kaylachan as far as I was aware the insurance we had was for both medical and dental. Medical cards were made out to each person. I don’t know why the dental both cards were on his name.

If and when he comes to the house is the perfect opportunity to ask him what's going on. Good luck.

If I ever see him. Right now I don’t want to.
