That Appointment Was Either a Waste of Time or a Blessing

I had a doctor's appointment today with my CPAP doctor. The appointment lasted 7 minutes. They took my vitals (weight, blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation). They did not listen to my lungs even though this is a lung doctor (pulmonologist). They basically said, "keep doing what you're doing, see you in a year." On the one hand, that's a good thing. One the other hand, it was a lot of driving in the rain for nothing.

That does seem unnecessary.

The doctor who prescribed my CPAP told me it had nothing to do with her... I haven't seen a doctor about it since then.

@looeyville Sounds more like a crap doctor than a clap doctor. It’s better than being poked at and stuck with needles of course. I took my father to get results of a worrying biopsy once and it was a long drive across town through heavy traffic. We were called into the office by a nurse and the doctor opened the file and said “yes, that all looks ok” and that was it. Good result of course. But it was at the height of COVID when we were only to leave the house if absolutely necessary especially if you were 90 with respiratory problems. Why didn’t the doctor just phone? That’s what we were all supposed to do.

That would be good news all round if it wasn't for the long journey. Still at least it provides some comfort.

Yes, definitely a mixed blessing.

Didn't listen to your lungs, when he is a lung doctor...what the freak kind of doctor is that?

I know you feel like you wasted your time, but if you can get past the initical vital check and told to go home, that's a good thing.

I think it wasn't for nothing at all if they checked your vitals. I think the oxygen saturation result was enough to tell them that they need not listen to your lungs. It means you're doing great and is still healthy.
