It's Been a Rough Couple of Months

At the beginning of January I stepped outside my door to put the garbage out. Literally right outside my door. My husband had stopped by on his lunch hour to check the ice on the roof. I fell on the ice right in front of our door. A thick slab of ice. As soon as I hit the ground I said, "Oh, this is not good." I couldn't get up, couldn't breathe. My husband kept telling me to take deep breaths but I told him I couldn't breathe. So he pulled me up by my hands and got me in the house where I immediately fell to the floor. Couldn't breathe. He called an ambulance. So at the hospital, they put me in the hall. They brought a portable ultra sound machine and checked everything out (because I was sure it was my kidney). Then they sent me to x-ray and finally into a room. The physician's assistant said nothing was broken but I had air around my lungs. (A week later a thoracic surgeon referred to it as a collapsed lung... makes more sense.) I stayed for another 4 hours to get another x-ray. By then the excruciating pain I had been going through had eased up considerably (drugs helped). So I had a collapsed lung and bruised ribs in the front and on the side. The front is fine but the side is still tender. But at least I can lie down now. The irony is that "good thing my husband was there", but I have the feeling that if he hadn't been there I wouldn't have fallen in the first place. And then he got a cold, I moved into another bedroom for a week... until I got a cold. It's the kind that doesn't want to let go. I thought 2026 was going to be better than 2025.

Like they say when it is not one thing it is the other. Hope you both get better quickly . 2026 is showing signs of becoming an outstanding year for almost everyone.

Last year was terrible with leaks, construction, unfinished construction for months, stuff packed up in a POD.... I was really hoping this would be a better year.

It has a chance to, we're just starting. Breathe. Take it one day at a time.

That certainly hasn't been a good start to the year. I hope things improve from here on.

Still plenty time for 2026 to be better than 2025 But you have had a lot to deal with. You really must have been in agony . And colds are sometimes not easy to get rid of. I hope you are all fit and well soon
