Carson Schmid and his friend Erik Masuda were at the right place at the right time on Wednesday February 18 at the Palisades Tahoe when they recording their run at the KT and the Olympic Lady chair lifts when something halted them in their tracks. The two skiers then saw skis coming out of the snow which alerted them that someone need to be rescued since the skier whose name was not released was on the verge of losing his life when the two skiers began to dig the accident victim out of the snow using their hands. The accident victim is grateful to be out of the snow since the conditions were of low visibility and deep snow which made the rescue very hard to accomplish. The rescued man was able to get up and ski down the mountain safely. The lesson that the skier has learned is that it is best to ski with another person when the conditions are covered in deep snow and hard to see. Link is msn.com/en-us/sports/n...

He was certainly very lucky. It's hard to believe he was able to continue on skiing.

That is true since I thought that the rescued man was scared to ski on the slopes after the accident.

He needs one of those personal alarms that goes off when a person is completely enveloped in snow. That way someone can automatically be sent.

That is a great idea to be used as a way to send for help while in the snow.

I heard about that avalanche when all those people were killed. I don't know if this was the same one or not.

Hopefully he did really learn his lesson never to ski alone.

That was opportune that they rescued him right when he needed it, and that he wasn't injured, and could ski on, skiing on. He was lucky that somebody noticed his predicament, and came to his rescue, pronto.
