I mentioned recently about the lady who works in the supermarket where Mom and I do the shopping on a Thursday. She works on the deli counter. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago she mentioned a problem with her sleeping / waking / stopping breathing !
She was waiting to be tested for sleep apnea.
I saw her this morning and I asked her about it.
She had to wear a mask for three nights and at the hospital she had blood taken from her ear !
They put a small hot water bottle on her ear and then took blood….they said it had to be from the ear as it was something to do with the gases that are present.
Anyway, she is waiting on results.
Do you know about this condition?

Oh, yes! I've had a CPAP machine since 2015 and have used it ever since I got it until that first machine wore out and insurance bought a second one for me.
When I was tested, the machine said I stopped breathing 100 times in an hour. All I knew was that when I took naps at work, people would make fun of the sounds I'd make while asleep.
Thankfully, I don't make those sounds anymore and get a good sleep while wearing the mask.

@Traceyjayne I started out with a real mask. Now, I have a hose that leads to two nostril pillows. That suits me a lot better than the mask did.

I know people who've been tested for sleep apnea but none have mentioned having to have blood taken from their ear. I hope they're able to help her.

I thought it strange but she said it was to do with the gases ….maybe I will ask her again next time I see her.

My husband had sleep apnea. I don't remember anything about taking blood from the ear.
