Felt like a weekend after a long long time.

It's 12:05, past midnight here. Monday has officially began here. And I am wide awake in my bed in a very happy mood. Just switched off the TV after watching the finals of T20 World Cup Men's Cricket. And Yay!! India won beating New Zealand. The match never got nail biting, it was a one sided match from the beginning. Well, Indian Cricket team makes history and defeats History tonight. It has won the title two times in a row and it is the only country to win the title thrice. The country is jubilant and I can still hear firecrackers
After a very very long time, this weekend felt like a real weekend. Things were crazy in December and January with frequent travels to see my sick and hospitalized mother in law. She finally passed away in mid of January and we went to do her last rites in the village as she wanted. She wanted the traditional 15 days long rituals. All this ended up in taking lots of leaves from school. And when I came back, I was overwhelmed by the piles of things to get done with both at home and work. That meant non stop work to catch up with little or no time to breath. And I came back with viral and throat infection. The deadly combination of sickness, tiredness and having a lot to do is not funny.
It was 10 days of prescribed antibiotics that gave some relief after all the remedies failed. I am still not in full energy form.. But definitely feeling better and have recovered a lot.
. Weekends from the time I came back from my mother in law's funeral did not feel like Weekends. I was working and felt exhausted all the time due to the infection that stayed too long. Good that I have catched up with most things and even feeling better health wise. Finally, things are getting back to normal.
And this weekend I could do what I generally used to do on weekends. Enjoy, stay lazy and relaxed. I watched two movies and the final match today.
.
I have a long week starting..but I feel well rested and actually looking forward to it. A feeling I missed for a long time.
How are you doing? Hope the weekend is going great for you.
Take care

I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you're well soon.
It has been a quiet day here. I've slept and am playing on myLot now. Pretty is making me a sandwich for late lunch right now.

Thank you..Yes, feeling better each day. When things fall back in routine slowly after some disruption, things too start falling back in place. It's so nice of Pretty to make sandwich for you. Hope you enjoyed it.
I too find that myLot has become very quiet these days.

My mom in law was not well and suffering. She had limited mobility for almost a decade. She was 82, not too old to die. But yes, she suffered and this was a relief from decade of suffering.
I am feeling much better, not feeling too overwhelmed now. I am tackling one thing at a time.

Thank you for your concern. My mom in law was 82 and had limited mobility in the last 10 years. She had lost her motivation to live, especially after she lost both her siblings and her son in law in 2025. She suffered a setback. Her last two weeks were painful in the hospital with ventilator. This was a relief from all the pain and suffering.
Yes, slowly things are coming back to normal. It was quite overwhelming to catch up with everything.

@Tampa_girl7 Hmm...very common, especially if they have lived through their ripe ages.

Thank you Valerie for the concern. She was 82 and was suffering for quite some time. Her last two weeks in hospital was bad. This came as a relief to all the sufferings. Parents are never too old to die. That void is hard to fill.
I am much better. Slowly getting my energy back. With my autoimmune diabetes and other things, recovery takes a little longer. Also, I had too much to do to be able to rest.

as you already mentioned that your mother in law was suffering, I feel she got relief with the end of life. Sometimes sufferings go beyond capacity to bear them

@arunima25 thanks Arunimaji yes I agree with you time is the best healer. for the moment her loss will be felt for a year. But as we are not doctors we can extend our assistance and pray. In that perspective if she has found solace after ending of the pains and sufferings one has to accept that.

@sathviksouvik Yes, life moves on. And we have to accept and respect whatever the cycle of life holds for us

Yes, she was 82. Though not too old to die. But she had restricted mobility for almost a decade and had lost motivation to live. Her last two weeks in hospital was bad, especially the last 10 days of being on ventilator and life support. So, in a way it was good for her to go. Well, parents are never too old to die. We feel the void.

I think most cricket fans knew India would win this tournament before a ball was bowled

Hmm...Indian team is in good form. So, fans expected winning the match. But such easy one was not expected. New Zealand is a strong team. It was just not their day on field. Nail biting wins give more excitement to fans

@Ineeddentures Yes. Many felt that way. But then one can never be 100 percent assured when it's matter of sports.

I am so glad you are feeling better. You did so much your exhaustion lowered your immune system’s ability to fight off sickness. Thank goodness you have been able to catch up on everything. I am sorry to hear about your mother-in-law, but it must be a blessing that she is no longer suffering.

Yes, all the exhaustion and the routine going out of order. I am insulin dependent diabetic since a very young age( type 1.5). I have to be regular with timing of food and my diet, exercise, sleep etc. With growing age, things get more challenging. Everything was disturbed and that impacted my health.
My mom in law was 82. She was not much mobile in the last one decade. Yes, she suffered a lot. You are right that she is no longer suffering .

I can understand. I loose track of weekdays and weekends during long vacations. Now, my summer vacation has started and it's going to happen. My younger daughter has no holidays and that makes me remember the days.

it is good to know Arunimaji that your weekend ended like a weekend. We have so much work piled up that the weekends are used to finish them

Yes, sometimes with a lot happening at once, things pile up and we take time to come back to track. There is a lot to catch up and weekends get more busy than weekdays. Anyways, I am glad that I have caught up with the workplace. But now, there are some long pending errands and cleaning chores on home front to be handled.
