So far this year, I read 9 out of 77 books. I’m gonna go to the library to return the books I borrowed and maybe take something else out. The temperature outside is 64F and it’ll get to 67 later today. I am not ready for these temperatures yet. It’s not even spring. One thing I don’t get is why does spring officially start when the spring solstice is as opposed to on March 1st? And all the other seasons, also start either on the solstice or the equinox and not on the first of the month of each season. Why is that? It seems weird that that’s how it is. Does the whole world go by that or is it just in the United States?

We have four 3-months cycles. I guess they start on the 1st of each month. December to February is summer, March to May autumn, June to August winter and September to November spring. However Mother Nature has her own ideas and March can be really hot for the first few weeks.

@lovebuglena Do you have four seasons? Our climate is supposed to be similar to California.

It's been in the 70s here. Too warm for March. I wouldn't know how to explain the solstice or equinox to you. Sorry. Best to look it up on the computer.

I just don’t understand why the season starts on the equinox or the solstice instead of the first of the month.

@lovebuglena Probably something to do with the position of the sun or Earth...I don't know. It has to do with that day being the shortest day of the season (sunlight wise).

I can’t believe today it is 86 degrees. That is too hot for me.

86? Wow! How do you deal with these temps? For me low 70s tops and preferably low humidity.

@lovebuglena I treasure winter, and resent spring and summer. Unfortunately, since I can’t take heat and humidity my electric bill in the summer is high.

@AmbiePam I cannot take heat humidity either. But the central AC I keep usually at 74 in the summer. It’s nice on the first and second floor and in the basement. But on the third floor, it doesn’t help much. And even when I lower it to 71 or what not, it doesn’t seem to really do much so there’s no reason to lower it I think.

Last year my goal for the year was 77 books and I read only 45 I think. Or maybe it was 47. I forget. This year same goal. Hope I can make it.

It does seem quite warm there today Lena Especially when you think that just recently you had a lot of cold weather and snow and ice

I don’t like when the temperature drastically drops or increases. In one day we can even have cold, warm, hot, back to cold type of thing in one day.

@lovebuglena That sounds like you could be here in Scotland as the same happens here
