Thanks to the teamwork of deputies with the Martin County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), two bystanders, and a Sea Tow captain they saved a man who was in a wheelchair who fell into the water at Mariner Cay in Florida when the ramp connecting a ramp to his boat fell off.
Two bystanders held the wheelchair steady while keeping the man's face above the water when MCSO Marine Unit deputy Mark Appler and Sea Tow captain arrived to stabilize the chair
Deputy Appler used a rope to hold the wheelchair in place while MCSO deputies assisted Deputy Appler when the decision was made by Deputy Appler to disconnect the wheelchair and using a life preserver and swim the wheelchair man to the shore safely.
The wheelchair bound man received medical attention where the wheelchair bound
man only suffered minor injuries.
Teamwork paid off in this incident in Martin County Florida. It is a good deal.

Pity the wheel chair didn't have air bags which inflated when it hit the water.
He must have got a shock when the ramp gave way
Must have been a bit scary right enough
Well done to all those involved in rescuing the whell chair bound man

It seems as if that man was alone on his boat, and I would expect someone so handicapped should always have a companion with them when they go onto a boat. He was lucky to have been rescued as his predicament was quickly spotted.

That is true that the accident victim needed a companion to be with him.
