Aren’t magazines expensive !

I just went shopping to get a few extra bits and bobs for Mom for Mothers Day on Sunday …..different days in different countries I know , but this week end it is ours. I had a free magazine a couple of months ago and she said how much she had enjoyed reading it. She did used to have a couple of magazines a week , but never really had the time to read them, so she stopped having them regularly. I thought as a treat I would get her a couple as part of her present. Oh my days ! A magazine that used to be less than a pound is now suddenly £4. How on earth did that happen….and why are so many people still buying them at that price ! Anyway, it’s a special occasion do I got three , of the better ones, for her…. Do you have magazines regularly ….? Do you think they are expensive ?

I had two free magazines delivered to the house but haven't bought any in ages. Even the free ones stopped coming by mail. Now you access them free online.

Yes, everything is online ….just a shame my 87 year old Mom doesn’t do online !

@Traceyjayne You could show her how to find magazine sites, though. I showed a lot of older people how to find things like that on their phones. (Some of them asked me to bookmark their favorite sites so they could get to them easily.)

I haven’t bought any in ages. So much of it is online and free now, but of course many are more obscure. I’m sure your mom will enjoy the treat of having them to read.

@Traceyjayne Oh, of course not. My grandmother didn’t want anything to do with the internet after she retired either.

@AmbiePam Mom didn’t go back to work after I was born …..and as you know I was 60 in January ….so she has never used computers, laptops, iPads etc. she has a mobile phone, but a really old one , probably 20 years old. She rarely uses that, and only for emergency phone calls …she doesn’t even text. The Mister has got her an up to date mobile phone but so far she hasn’t used it….

I’m sure she will like them ….ive got actual books too for her , as well as other things …….she doesn’t do online ….at 87 she really doesn’t want to Learn ….

We've occasionally looked at getting a subscription as a gift but the price has put us off.

It’s crazy isn’t it ….they are so very expensive….with the price of everything going up I don’t know how people pay nearly £4 per magazine….
