Do You Write Cards and Letters?

This is a picture of the back of a letter that I am getting ready to send out to a writer friend with whom I exchange "snail mail". I always put some colorful stickers on the envelope. We both enjoy picking out special cards and stamps for each other, and sometimes we also enclose little extras, like cartoons, stickers, and such. In this one, I enclosed a mini "zine", which I will probably write about in another post. It's fun to get such little surprises, but that's just icing on the cake -- the real joy is to hear about her life and to get some "real" mail amongst all the bills and advertisements.

Do you know I'd forgotten that? How could I have? So much has happened since those days and you were away for so long. That is my only excuse.

@JudyEv I do understand that Judy. I didn't even remember as well until my son found one of the cards you sent me in my craft drawer.

@toniganzon I'm glad you've forgotten too. I don't have much recollection of it even now.

I love that envelope. I do still write cards and letters, but unfortunately, not nearly as much as I used to do.

April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, so maybe you can plan to celebrate with some notes!

I used to make cards and used to send them to friends but not nowadays when we can get them online and send them through email

Sending a card you made yourself makes it even more special!

There is a member here that I am very close to, and have exchanged holiday and birthday cards and gifts with. A few others it’s cards. And the best is texting and actual phone calls.

I find if I talk to someone on the phone, it will take too long, so I prefer to email or text...

@AliCanary You’re right! One time, I did my walking exercise up and down my driveway.

@DianneN I have one friend I can be on the phone with for ages, so I usually make sure I am in a comfortable chair and that I went to the bathroom already, lol

I send out cards -- birthday, anniversary, sympathy, Christmas...but I haven't sent a letter in a long time. I can instantly contact a friend or relative by text or email.

@LindaOHio I still send them, too! It's one of my favorite Christmas traditions. We had French doors in my childhood home, and Mom would tape the cards to the glass panels in the doors as they came in. It was very festive!

@AliCanary People are getting away from sending cards...especially Christmas cards. Maybe it's the expensive postage. I still like to send them though.

@AliCanary Postage is expected to go up to nearly $1 per stamp. Outrageous.

I used to send greeting cards to relatives, friends in other countries but that has been decades ago. Not anymore now. Nice stickers! Do you buy them or design and print them yourself?

They are really nice, aren't they! They are sturdy, too. Believe it or not, I got them from Wish! Some of the things on Wish are ridiculous, but they have an amazing sticker selection, and the stickers I've bought so far have been good quality.

I used to. Unfortunately, with the outrageous price and lack-of-delivery skills from the post office, I’ve resorted to the almost always reliable internet.

True, mail service has really gone downhill. I never put anything valuable in the letters, just little things to brighten her day.

I rarely get real mail any more. I treasure the "love letters" I got in the 1980s. I have kept several in a drawer.

I hang onto letters, too! If I get a card with just a signature, I don't keep it, but if the person wrote on it, I'll keep that.

I usually write a letter on the card itself, so that limits it to a few paragraphs, but I think that's a nice length to write and to read.

Thank you! Is it hard to write by hand? I usually write by hand on a card, but sometimes I type a letter and print it on some cool paper. They make lots of fun designs you can put in your printer.

I used to write very long letters home when I was in college. I would draw on them, too!
