Somehow Trump wound up naming Grenell as the interim president of the Kennedy Center. (I refuse to call it the Trump-Kennedy Center) His experience is in foreign affairs and the closest experience he has to "the arts" is that his partner was once a Broadway actor and he himself sang in a choir as a boy. For real.
Grenell tried to please Trump by trying to mold the programming to his wishes as well as slapping his name not only on the building but placing it BEFORE John F. Kennedy's.
Performers cancelled their scheduled runs including Lin Manuel and his Hamilton. The National Symphony Orchestra declined to extend their run. There were protests and declining ticket sales. The whole thing became an embarrassment for Trump and he was tired of repeatedly hearing how he was "killing" the Kennedy Center.
The current vice president of the center will now take over the role of president. I can't imagine it will improve much of anything if the new guy follows in Grenell's footsteps and does whatever Trump wants.

They will still have trouble attracting any acts to perform there.

Legally, the name is the Kennedy Center. I don’t care what iDJiT calls it, or that Congress has no collective cojones to enforce the law regarding it.
