Do you ever take old medication?

I was prescribed a medication, and I received three months worth at one time. Only problem is somehow, some way, I misplaced the third month. Insurance isn’t going to pay, of course, and it’s too expensive for me to buy an extra month without insurance. So I looked in my medicine cabinet and found the medicine I was taking that does the same thing as the missing medicine. I quit taking it because it made me gain weight. Well, I can manage three weeks of it. So, I checked with my doctor, and she said it was fine. What a relief!
Do you ever take your “old” previous medications? And as a side note, if you do, please check with your doctor first.

Nope. I get one month at a time and use it during that month.

I deliberately get 3 months at a time for 2 of my medications. Because Medicaid only pays for 6 meds a month. I have 14. So if I get three months worth of a medication that frees up two months I can use a spot for a different medication. I doubt I explained that well.

@AmbiePam Medicaid there is different from here. I have 12 prescriptions each month. Medicaid pays for all of them.

No I haven't done it. And I would consult the doctor for sure before taking any old ones.

I take the medication that is prescribed to me by my doctor and when it is finished, I do not take any more medication that is considered old for health reasons.
