A massive issue in the UK? How true?
That's the news I stumbled upon while browsing the net.
So I'm asking our friends from the UK if this is true. According to the news, store owners have been storing their chocolate in a plastic security boxes and customers have to ask a member of staff to unlock when they wish to purchase.
Convenient store owners said the chocolates are being stolen by prolific offenders and being sold in the black market!
In my city, it's the appliance stores that are being target by the thieves.

Chocolate is very expensive here.
I have never witnessed any chocolate theft in our town and have never heard it mentioned
But I did see a news item about the problem in England where it seems this type of crime is rife
Why cook your kids a meal when you can steal chocolate for them!!!
That's a joke incase any Englanders are offended
Chocolate theft is big business, I just wish I could find out where to buy the knock off chocolate

I have no idea but I think the makers know they can charge what they want and people will buy it
Average sort of price for Cadbury is about £2 per 160g bar

Apparently it is in London and some parts of the UK.

@toniganzon - Chocolate has become expensive, due to rising cocoa prices. It rained too much and cocoa trees are sensitive to temperature and rainfall. Next year the price should go down again.

Yeah, this is a bit odd to me coz people here would steal far more expensive items but not chocolate. But in the UK, they resell the chocolates which means they are profiting form it that's why they do it over and over again.

Same here. But it seems that it's a common thing in the UK particularly in London.

This is my first time hearing about this issue in the UK. Maybe it happens because life is more challenging right now.
