Grow up, will you!

Being the youngest in the family, I have always been treated like a child. When I was with friends, I spoke like a matured person. The moment I stepped home, I talked like a kid (the voice, the expression). It wasn't only family and friends who treated me like a child, but everybody in town who knew my parents! Now that I'm 48, has it changed? NO. When people in town see me, in their most gentlest voice (like talking to a child), they'd say "Be," short for baby! Last night, my sister went on a trip with friends and she'll be away until Saturday. Before leaving she left me instructions for the warehouse, etc. and giving them to me as if I was a child! But when we had a fight, she'd say, act your age! Your'e an adult already!

I guess you can’t escape that sometimes. You handle it well though!

Sometimes I get really confused. I couldn't seem to act maturely when I'm with siblings with the way they treat me.

My only brother is younger, so I was the "big sister" the one who had to behave and be good because "he was a baby". My husband treats me like a child, pay attention when you use knives, be careful when you cross the road, do not climb the ladder.

It's nice to be treated like a baby by the hubby. You deserve to be pampered.

I am also the youngest and I have to be able to do everything here, and with humility I can accept it. Since I was a kid, I was very careless until one day my hand broke. As I grew up, I gradually became more careful in doing things. my friends probably still think of me as a kid and whatever.

I’m 1 year and 3 months older than my brother, and he’s 1 year 3 months older than my younger brother. The younger one was called the baby for years until he went to school. Being the only girl in my entire family, I was spoiled rotten. I always acted my age.

We noticed that when the eldest child is a woman, they're way more responsible compared to the eldest son in the family.

Do they treat you like a kid? I have two brothers and two sisters. The one before me is 4 years older than me.

I think it's a psychological thing. I got treated like a kid, even though I'm an adult. Those close to you, don't always see you've changed much, except in age. They have this expetation of you in their mind and treat you accordingly.

Right. I find it difficult how to act in front of them sometimes. When I try to be an adult, they'd tell me I have no opinion coz mine didn't matter.

Indeed, it is! I had been struggling for a very long time coz none of them listened to my opinion when I was giving it to them coz they thought it didn't matter as I am but a child.

I am the youngest in the family too. I'm 32 years old already but my family still treats me like a child. my friends also treats me like their youngest sister. But I act matured when I'm with my boyfriend. when i'm with him I always decide on everything. my friends would say "your acting like a wife material, and matured" then I just laughed at them.
