Would you check up on an ex ?

I just heard someone on tv say one thing that they did was to drive past an ex’s house late at night to see if they were in or out …..
It’s not something I would do ….an ex is an ex ….
But it got me wondering ….is it something you would do ? Or have done ?
Is there another way you have ever checked on an ex ?

As for me when I Break up with one, I just totally do away from that person, I won't have anything to do with that person again.

My first ex used to do that just to annoy me. She'd call the police and tell them I was doing something illegal so they'd start watching me. 
Finally, the police here figured out she was just being a dumb sh*t and stopped.
I actually did call and ask the police to do a wellness check on my youngest brother. He stopped answering his phone and didn't own a car. Several of the family were worried. The police went to his house, knocked until he answered the door and told him his family was worried and they just needed to see that he was okay. Then they called me back and said he didn't want to be bothered anymore. As long as we knew he was okay, we didn't bother him anymore.

@Traceyjayne The police understood we weren't trying to make trouble for him but going incommunicado was very worrying for several of us.

I had an ex that did it a few times …..but it was when we were together ….he worked down the road from where I lived and he said after he finished work he wanted to know I was safe at home ….this was late at night , so I didn’t know straight away. One night he was there as I closed the curtains, that’s how I found out …..it had been happening for a while apparently.
Fair enough if you wanted to know if your brother was ok ….

@Traceyjayne i also had an ex that always says am cheating,she always passes by my house,just to check.
