The emus are big birds. they are propagated in enclosures where 25 to 30 of them can stay together. Food is provided to them. They are lay giant green eggs. In bengal no one eats their eggs. The birds look nice.

Why does nobody eat Emu eggs
Are they sacred?
Won't that result in a huge population of some very big birds

@JudyEv Thanks Jimbo and Judy the eggs may be very popular in other countries. In bengal the eggs are not eaten may be due to the taste. Here only hen eggs and duck eggs are popular

@sathviksouvik We tried the egg scrambled but the taste was a bit too strong so then we used to make sponge cakes in a baking dish. One emu egg was equal to about a dozen hen eggs.

That is nicely shared. It is amazing that one can see Emu birds - not native of India and in fact with native land far away from India, in India !

That is a lot of care !
I don't think many zoos in India would be keeping Emus !

I've only seen emus in zoos. I know there are farms of them here and I believe some of the eggs are hatched out and others are sold as specialty foods.

We had a pet emu once and would use the eggs for cakes.

@sathviksouvik It ran in a large yard with some poultry so was no trouble to look after.
