I find it rather amazing that so many of the idioms we use a lot have either cats or apples as the subject matter. Here are the ones I found so far:
Apples:
* Apple doesn't fall far from the tree
* An apple a day keeps the doctor away
* The apple of my eye
* a bad apple
* How do you like them apples?
* Upset the apple cart
Cats:
* Raining cats and dogs
* Like a cat on hot bricks
* Let the cat out of the bag
* Cat got your tongue?
* Like herding cats
* A cat and mouse game.
Can you think of any that are about dogs or other fruit?

@Ineeddentures ........Isn't the spelling on that one 'pair' instead of 'pear'?
