LaGardia airport closed until 2:00pm because of a crash

Israel

I just heard that a plane crashed into a firetruck on landing at LaGardia airport. It was coming from Canada. The pilots were both killed and some passengers were sent to the hospital. Maybe it is time to start taking the train instead of flying. It seems that flying is getting very dangerous. What do you think?

It was a mistake of the guy at the tower control, he told to the firetruck to go on and move. Well a tram in Milan derailed killing 2 passengers and injuring 54... so you see it's also dangerous not flying.

And the Tower Control people are overworked and not getting paid on time. I would quit and find a different job. . . Its hard to find new jobs right now.

@lifecoachjerusalem - Exactly, they are very stressed, overworked and in those conditions it's easy to make mistakes. Hard to find good paid jobs now. Anyway the guy at the tower control admitted that "he messed up".

I heard about the plane crash a little earlier this morning. It's a shame that this happened. It is worrisome to hear of these cases. But I'm not sure if it'll stop me from taking a plane. At least not at the moment.

I have 2nd thoughts. But if I have to travel to the USA from Israel, and I didn't want to fly I'd have to go by boat. That trip would take at least a month!

That is pretty darn scary. I’ll fly, but in general, I don’t want to.

I am not planning a flight for a while, so I hope that things will calm down by the summer at least.

Wow, sorry the pilots got killed, but could have been a lot worse.

I heard about that crash. It's mainly because there aren't enough people working in the airports right now and a mistake from the tower as Anna said. I do take the train if I travel anywhere. I only flown once.

We heard about this on our news. There seems to be more air crashes than there used to be but maybe it's just that news travels further these days.
