@Traceyjayne It depends; I can grow lovely cauliflowers but have absolutely no success with carrots which you describe as easy to grow!

@Fleura yes, I’ve done carrots before without problems ….its just they are so cheap to buy and I only have raw in salads anyway, doesn’t seem worth the time or space. I am seeing the cauliflowers as a challenge so I may be asking you for hints and tips …..

I have done potatoes in the past but wanted something different this year. I’m not sure how much of this will be planted or successful but I am willing to give it a go. I have gone beetroot, leeks and spring onions before. I have heard cauliflowers are most difficult to grow ….

I am not familiar with courgette so I’ll have to look that up. Everything else sounds great!

@Traceyjayne That's three good reasons not to plant them!

Carrots are really easy to grow but they are also really cheap here. Plus, I don’t like cooked carrots.

I think it will save you a lot of money soon when it grows coz you do need to buy them in the store anymore.

I love to have that too. I tried but failed several times. Right now, I have a citrus plant, probably 12-15inches tall already, I have two capsicum or chili pepper, and a moringa plant

That looks like a nice variety you chose. Hope you get it all planted. I've been thinking of doing some tomatoes in pots on my deck this year. I say it every year and never do it though

I have problems with allium leaf miners here, which attack plants in the onion family, so that makes it challenging to grow onions, garlic, leeks etc. I have to grow them under insect-proof mesh which of course makes it really difficult to weed! Chives are fine; I think they still get attacked but since we only eat the leaves that doesn't matter. The leaf miners burrow their way down to the base which damages onions and garlic especially, but also leeks.
