I have heard of some huge amounts of money being paid at auctions for memorabilia and such but not these ridiculous amounts for these items: * In 2024 $6.24 Million was paid at an auction for a banana stuck to a wall with what looks like duct tape. * Chewing gum reportedly chewed by Brittany Spears went for $14,000 on eBay. * In 2004 a gaming establishment paid $28,000 on eBay for a grilled cheese sandwich that bore the burnt image of the Virgin Mary on it. * A fleece sweatshirt worn by Princess Diana went for $221,000 and some other items of her clothing all totaled $5 million at an auction in Beverly Hills in 2025. * Buford, Wyoming nicknamed "the smallest town in America" sold for $900,000 in 2012. Only one person lived there. * The violin played on the Titanic as it was sinking went for $1.7 million in 2013. Pretty weird what some people will pay money for. There are more. Read about them and the reasons behind many at the URL below:

I have to wonder how that violin survived being doused in water. We have a plastic mould that you can push into a slice of bread. When the toast it, the image of the Virgin Mary appears.

If I remember right, the guy who bought the taped banana, actually ended up eating the banana.

It’s totally ridiculous, but some people have money to burn.

@celticeagle Those people who can pay that kind of money do have lots of money. I don’t know anyone who acts like they have money. They either do or don’t, even if it’s not in the multi millions.

I can understand an item like a rookie card of a sports star being placed up for auction or their work clothes. This post shows some very odd item up for auction.

Yes, it does. I can see antiques being worth it but not these trivial items.
