Neighbor, that is a Thorny Bush

I don't wish to be uncharitable to anyone but here is a case that is amusing inspite of being unpleasant. I have bought a plot of land from a man who was a govt employee. In those days when land was easily available in this part of the state and cheap too. That gentleman had money and so he bought enough land hoping to do farming as well. Now the gentleman is good with me but can't say the same appreciative words for his wife. She has had quarrels with all neighbours some time or other. My house is not ready and my family has not begun to live in the house yet but situations had arisen when she had picked a point to start a quarrel with us. I manuevored tactfully to avoid any quarrel with her. She is uneducated and lacks culture, so she is capable of yelling and shouting. I don't know when she would make a scene. I hope to build a fence around my house so that I don't have to cross path with her. Meanwhile, I keep myself out of any argument with her.

I can relate to your troubles. We can't choose our neighbors. Some can be pretty rotten people. I have one too! A fence is a good idea and put one up for just that reason you mentioned.

It's good you're building a fence and I think you should make it a high one so she can't see over it. Good neighbours are to be cherished but bad ones can make life very uncomfortable.

You are wise to go to great lengths to avoid her.

Not all needs attention. A neighbor like that would drain your energy. Protecting your own peace is better than giving time with her.
