My Monthly Goals

Since I haven't been working, I've decided to be more ambitious about reading and making art. I have a lot of books here at the house that I haven't read, and books you don't read are just clutter. I also have a lot of art supplies I haven't used, and art supplies you don't use are also just clutter.
In light of this, I have set myself a goal to read the books and then take them to the used book store for whatever money I can get, and to use the art supplies to make artwork and sell that, too, if possible. So I get the quadruple enjoyment of reading, making art, making money (potentially), and getting stuff out of my house.
Reading and making art both take time, though, so I set a modestly ambitious goal for myself at the beginning of the year - to finish two books and one project every month. In January, I finished reading David Copperfield by Charles Dickens and Out on the Cutting Edge by Lawrence Block, and my art project was the heart garland I wrote about in my "I Made It!" post, so you can see the photo there.
In February, my two books were Black Dogs by Ian McEwan and Caste by Isabel Wilkerson, and my art project was my mini art zine, which I also wrote about and you can see the picture on that post.
For March, I only finished one book, Body of Evidence by Patricia Cornwell, but I finished TWO art projects, so I feel fine about it. The two art projects were both collaged cards. One of them you've seen, as I included it as a photo on a post, so the photo on this post is the other one, which has a wrap-around design.
I have plenty of unfinished books and unfinished art projects, so I'm hoping to hit my April goal. Stay tuned!

Not yet, but fortunately these are things I can hold onto for a long time and I can keep trying!

You're doing really well! I've just been given a bag full of wool oddments so I need to do something with those now. I hear you about books being clutter but some of mine I just want to keep and reread. Are there some you can't bear to part with?

@AliCanary I don't lend books very often either. One in particular hasn't been returned but I can't remember who I lent it to. And now I've found it's nearly impossible to replace.

Yes! I've never been in the habit of rereading things (especially because so many new ones come along that I'd like to read), but I might save a very small number of fiction books. I'm more likely to save nonfiction books and art books for reference and inspiration.

Sounds like a plan. I will be working on downsizing and decluttering as well.

I'm trying to resist just fooling around on the internet so I can concentrate on the other stuff, but it's hard!

I understand. When I was working full time, I was too tired to do ANYTHING when I got home.
