So the Easter deals on veggies continues ….. This morning I went to Lidl and got a bag of carrots for 4p and three bunches of Spring onions for 8p each ….grand total 28p. Carrots should be 59p and onions 69p, so the total should be ….£2.76 I have just been to Tesco and got broccoli for 15p, it should have been 82p. Shame this is only for Easter ……wouldn’t it be great if these were the regular prices !

It would be nice if we saw veggies at those prices here. IF you like the tops of Spring onions diced up in your foods, you can always buy some extra ones, use the tops in your cooking and plant the bulbs in flowerpots. The onions will keep growing the tops all summer long (as long as you don't forget to water them) but there won't be any onion left if you pull them up this coming fall. We normally do this and have two or three pots full of them going to use in eggs or with baked meats.

I’ve just bought seeds …..I found out you can freeze the onions and use the roots to grow more …..

@Traceyjayne We don't have freezer room for onions. I have bags and bags of dried onions.

Why the low prices? Does everything shut for a few days? I think our supermarkets are open all day every day. Opening on Good Friday would have been unheard of years ago.
