Do you curse, swear, use foul language or profanities?
One rule in our home when I was a kid was to never utter such words. The moment mom heard a single foul word or swearing, she'll slap our mouth.
An elementary classmate of mine made me feel uncomfortable because every word that comes out of her mouth were swearing. She couldn't make a single sentence without using foul words. And we were just kids!
We never became friends though we were in the same volleyball team.

I do not swear. I understand other people do, and that is their business. But if it is done excessively (note I said EXCESSIVELY ) around me, I’ll remove myself from that person’s company. I don’t care if they want to and would never tell them to change. I just personally don’t want to hear it, and will take steps not to.

I od understand that it's an expresso for others and sometimes it's funny. But if it makes me uncomfortable, I really don't want to be around with that person.
That particular girl I mentioned the discussion has really sharp tongue. If you accidentally bump into her, shell curse you and utter words that are really offensive even if you already apologized for accidentally doing so. Really rude!

@AmbiePam I'll sit in a restaurant and hear people (usually men) have whole conversations punctuated with the "F" word and yes, I've walked back to those people and said, "Why don't you try expanding your vocabulary a little bit other than saying "F"? Don't you realize people sitting around you, including families and children can hear you?" And yes, I know it's not my place to lecture them, but sometimes I'd just had enough.

If I'm angry/upset about something, then I might use foul language. Sometimes there's no other way to express yourself.

I sure do understand that.
The girl I mentioned would just utter it and she was very rude. Even when somebody bumps into her accidentally and would apologize, she would swear at that other kid non stop.

None of us did it when we were young because we were too scared of our mom. But when we were away on school days I would hear my siblings swear when they're mad at each other.

My son and I don't swear. Even when he's really mad and he never swears at all. Even if his dad swears a lot.

@DianneN It's common in his family to swear in their household. It wasn't in ours. Just glad Craig didn't take after him.

I don't find a woman who swears a lot, especially casually, attractive at all. I guess for most men, it isn't too.

i feltl like that in college, when every other word from some girl was swearing and i snapped a bit and told her can she swear less. i mean, i didn't know if she acted cool or it was normal to her. today's kids, even age 6, swear a lot. i was surprised to hear that as a teacher substitute. i swear only when i'm angry and where noone hears me. my parents were the same but they also thought noone heard them but i did and it made me laugh but when i had it enough, like with my father, i said, hey, dad, please stop. i cursed, i'm not proud of, to some boys in high school, who were bullying me.

I'm just happy that my son never swears. Not when he was a kid and not even now that he's an adult. I would hear him getting mad at somebody sometimes but he never swears at all.

Yes, I do. If I get good and mad I do swear. I never did swear when younger and lived in either my grandmother's home or my mom's. I do recall actually having my mouth washed out with soap when I was living at my grandmother's house. I never did it again.
Just a kid and swearing? Ugh! My grandson swears when he is playing his video games with his friends. It's sort of a man thing I think.

My son doesn't swear ever. Not when he was a kid and not even now when he's an adult. No matter how mad he is, he never swears at all.
I do understand those who swears but it's not just my thing.

Those days are gone indeed. Some people swear casually like it's part of their daily language. That's why they don't realize how much they're swearing.

I do curse and swear quite a lot I have to admit that and not always just nice curse words I use
I even use the c word
We were not allowed to swear at home
I thought my mother was a c word but never called her the c word until I was 13
I showed great restraint
