Till We Meet Again

Today let's talk about really old times. This is a beautiful song that was sung as a duet by Bing Crosby and Patti Page. The music was written by Richard A. Whiting with lyrics by Raymond B. Egan way back in 1918. It was written during the Great War and is a song that tells the story of a soldier parting from his sweetheart. The title of this song actually comes from the final line of the chorus: Smile the while you kiss me sad adieu. When the clouds roll by, I'll come to you. Then the skies will seem more blue. Down in Lover's Lane, my dearie. Wedding bells will ring so merrily. Every tear will be a memory. So wait and pray each night for me, Till we meet again In 1919 the song was at number one when recorded by Henry Burr and Albert Campbell. Many other artists have recorded it, among them Doris Day. Supporters of the English football team Huddersfield Town adapted the song and tune in the 1920s, and they still sing it. My favorite version is the one sung by Bing Crosby and Patti Page.

Such a beautiful lyrics. I believe old songs are more meaningful than today’s new songs.

I remember this really well. I guess it was on the radio perhaps when I was small.

I love the music from back then. My dad was in the war. He didn't meet my mom until after he came back, but it must have been utter hell to part like that.
