I realized at night the emus make sounds like animals not birds

Emus are very large birds. When I did camping with my family in Daringbari hills in Orissa, there were forests surrounding our places. At night we heard different sounds including that of bear, wild dogs, fox and in that scary soundsystem emus used to make huge noise. I've only heard adults making a booming sound with their throat pouch. The chicks make sounds like other birds chirping.
