Nobody owes you anything

When there was a prolonged blackout, I asked my friend to help me charge my powerbank at an older woman's place, someone he is very close to. She uses solar. He said he'd call me the next morning to bring my powerbank. He never did. So I went to his house..shouted his name, knocked on the door and even called his phone ..it was switched off..no response I didn't see him until after 9pm that night when he showed up with some excuses. I couldn't stay mad though cos I learned a long time ago that nobody owes you anything. He's done good things for me before..so why hate him over this one time. .

True enough although, since he did say he'd help you, he should have stood by his promise.

My dad told me growing up that the world owes me nothing. And while I’m glad you aren’t holding it against him, hopefully he will be more transparent the next time.

Your feelings are normal. If it just happened once, I think that's ok. But if he's been doing it frequently, I think it's better not to associate with those kinds of people. It's up to you.

That is right. Although it would be nice if they did.

You are being mature about this, but he should have told you he couldn't help after all. I wouldn't have stayed mad either, but I wouldn't trust help in the future.

It's a pity he couldn't keep his promise. I hope he had a good reason not to.
