Sitting and silence.

Silence has descended onto my back garden and it’s lying there thick, luxurious and welcome. Neighbours have laid aside their whiny garden machinery and their dogs seems to have fallen asleep, so I’ve taken advantage of the lush stillness and the absence of wife and child to pour for myself a draught of vintage, and have cut off a hunk of mature cheese, and I’ve been sitting happily on the garden bench. Oh so happily.
The wine is Sicily’s finest - Nero d’Avola. The cheese is tangy Scottish Cheddar which doesn’t make sense to me.
The bid, red, blousy tulips nod at me every time a puff of slow-moving wind passes by, and bees are busy around the lavender bush even though it’s just thinking of blooming and hasn’t quite got round to it.
Do you spend a lot of time in the garden?

My dad’s wife has a beautiful garden into which she pours her heart. I went back there to capture pictures, and immediately my eyes welled up, my nose started itching, and a tickle invaded my throat.
I was made to enjoy gardens through pictures or air conditioned cars, apparently.

That sounds so ideal. I just have a small flower garden in front of the house. I don't spend time there.

My "garden" Is a dozen planters in the kitchen. Thankfully, I don't hear bees buzzing around in the plants but I do get to look at the beautiful foliage and the flowers on the oxalis when I go in to cook something.

I intend to spend more time in the garden in the near future.
