I want to get a pet

I am extremely confused about which pet animal should I get? I used to have pets (hamsters, bunnies, guinea pigs, etc.) and now I am considering getting a pet again, after a long time. The reason why I would like to get a pet is because I do have some time, as I am on a work from home arrangement. However, I am confused about which pet should I get :a bunny, guinea pig, cat or dog. I seem to love all but I can't get all. Any idea how should I approach my choice ? Do you have a pet animal?

I have a small dog, and I will never go without one as long as I’m able. But you have to ask yourself with a dog do you want to walk them every day? Can you afford a rabies shot? I think they are worth it. With a cat, it’s mainly do you mind cleaning a litter box. I’d say if you want fairly low maintenance a Guinea pig isn’t a bad idea. You can still show it affection and play with it. You said you even had one. I also like ferrets, but those little guys get into stuff, and it’s illegal in some places to own one.

I might consider a bunny. What's your thoughts on this?

@excellence7 I always wanted one of those bunnies that were as big as a medium sized dog. I forget the name of the breed. Don’t get me wrong, a small one sounds like a good idea, but I saw a story on the bigger ones, and fell a little in love with them.

@AmbiePam Bunnies are so adorable regardless of their size. Do you think you can still get one bunny?

I think you should get a dog, dogs are the best. They are more intelligent than other animals

I'm allergic to furbabies of any type, so I've had fishies for years. Guppies, Cherry Shrimp, Ghost Shrimp and Corydoras (little catfish). As long as you're willing to put in time with them, you and your son should love the pet(s) you decide to get.

I had an aquarium too some years ago. I had guppies, tetra, shrimps, corydoras too. It can be a good idea. I will explore this.

I’d say base it on your lifestyle more than anything. Do you want something low-maintenance, or are you ready for a pet that needs more time and attention like a cat or dog? Only you can really answer that, so it’s worth thinking through before deciding. Pets aren’t just for fun. They’re a big responsibility. Personally, I’d lean toward a cat. Independent but still very affectionate. I have five cats myself!

My wife, unfortunately, does not like cats otherwise I would have got one. I am rather looking for something low-maintenance. I am leaning more towards a bunny.

Get a dog. Then you can take it for a walk 6 times a day Pick up it's poop Feed it Pay hefty vets bills And get woken up by it barking. Have fun woof woof

I don't mind doing all these, if I had that much of time.

@excellence7 Just remember the vets bills won't be small bills
