Every Once In a While I Prefer a Brand Name Product

I'm pretty frugal with groceries. I look for the bargains, clip digital coupons and almost always buy the generic store brand.
For a couple of years I've been buying the Kroger store brand deli Black Forest ham. It's been okay, but it seems like it gets slimy after you open it. I didn't have anything to compare it to.
Then about a month ago I was in the store and saw Hillshire Farms deli Black Forest ham for about 50 cents more than the generic and for whatever reason I bought it.
Man oh man is there ever a difference! The Hillshire Farms ham is so much fresher and tastier than the Kroger generic brand. And it doesn't get slimy after you open it.
I'm willing to pay an extra 50 cents for the name brand for deli ham now.
Are there some products where you prefer a specific brand?

I’m hardly an applesauce connoisseur, but Mott’s applesauce blows store brands out of the water.

Just now
And I was going to say I know this is tasty but I really don't mind the 2 lb ham package from Great Value since it give me more for less for a longer time,

Hillshire Farms is a really tasty brand to pick to pay more, that’s for sure. I guess for me it used to be ranch dressing. Years ago, when I would buy it, it had to be Hidden Valley. There was definitely a difference. Now, I guess it’s just my nemesis, Coca-Cola. The generic is not even close to the same, and I’ve tried several generics.
For my sister, it’s Del Monte green beans. She can tell the difference, and will not buy any generic. I can’t tell the difference in green beans, but she sure can!

We shop at the local Walmart and they sell both brand name and Walmart brand sliced turkey, ham and beef in packs of 2 lbs and 1 lbs. (The 2 lbs packs are cheaper.) We buy the Walmart brand sandwich meats but I break the 2 lbs packs down into thirds and freeze two thirds of the meat. I don't eat it fast enough to keep it fresh if I don't do that.
Pretty is always trying to save money but buys Walmart brand aluminum foil. It's so thin I tear it before I get enough to put over a pan. I never minded paying for the better brand. But, it's her money so I don't say anything...

We usually get Land o' Frost lunch meats - they taste pretty good. I just had some of the ham for lunch!
