Albany New York Police Officers with the assistance of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) teamed up to block off a residential area on Tuesday morning when a bear climbed a tree and refused to come down. Officials with the DEC made the decision to tranquilize the bear who refused to come down from the tree since many residents in the area were in danger with the bear in their neighborhood. The Albany Police set up a net and padding to catch the bear who fell from the tree after the bear was hit by a tranquilizer gun and passed out. DEC officials will take the bear to the Catskill mountains and released to the wild safe and sound. No one was hurt in the incident involving the bear who left the Catskill mountains to look for food. Link is cbs6albany.com/news/local/bea...

I can imagine the scare it must bring to the neighborhood to see a bear.

I hope they planned better than that one time they tranquilized a bear, it hit the trampoline, and then bounced right back off to hit the ground.

I am sure that the DEC had the best plan of dealing with the bear not hurting anyone after the bear passed out after being tranquilized.

I’m pleased the bear …and the public ….was safe . It made me chuckle when I read the bear refused to come down …..I pictured him sitting in the tree shaking his head saying ‘ nope ‘ when he was asked to come down.

I'm glad that officials tranquilize animals. Some areas shoot them if they are being a problem and I think that is so inhumane. Just tranquilize it and take back to it's habitat.

I better warn my sister in-law. She has a place in the Catskills. Happy the bear wasn’t hurt and released into the wild.

@Deepizzaguy We had a black bear twice! It destroyed our bird feeders just to eat the birdseed.

Good idea since bears are looking for food in neighborhoods these days.

It's annoying how animals climb up trees then have trouble getting down and someone has to help them.
