So @LooeyVille has talked about the Kentucky Derby since it is in her “neck of the woods”. That’s unique to her area, and quite the claim to fame. It got me thinking about what my state is best known for, activity wise. I guess I’d say for me, it would be the Oklahoma City Thunder, the NBA team who won the championship last year. Our OU football team is always in the top ten for college football, but I think the NBA team is more well known.
What about your area?

That is an interesting question. I don't follow sports so I can't really say I understand all that lol. Couldn't really tell you what my state is known for activity wise, especially if that is just sports lol. I could probably think of things outside of that

@AmbiePam Well if not sports, it's known for being the gem state because we have over 80 kinds of gem stones found here. It's known for skiing, I guess too. Known for craters of the moon (hiking) too.
Even having more hot springs than any other state lol

I guess being in the cradle of American history. This is the place to be if you want to study American history, particularily the early Presidents and the Civil War. Also, Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, are well known too..Virginia Beach etc. This state has something for everybody honestly.

@snowy22315 Every summer in July our denomination had a national conference, and back in 1994 it was there. While my parents had to attend the conference, we always made a vacation of it, and explored for a week after the conference was over.

I used to like the OKC team in NBA but wasn't a great fan.

You know I don't know anything about my area. When I lived in NYC, I loved going to Belmont Park in the summertime to see the horses.
